Orphan Care training for New Hope case workers

It is not easy being an orphan. Even after the children are adopted many of them are suffering the harmful effects of damaging forces that sweep across society.

Fears, trauma from their past, lying, cheating, stealing, rebellion, academic difficulties, misbehavior, poor study habits, resistance to parents, stubbornness, low self-esteem, physical and emotional abuse, lack of understanding, bonding and attachment issues, and ADHD these are issues that caseworkers face when they are working with adopted children.

These were the topics that where brought in the training for caseworkers that took place at New Hope office in Lviv, May 16. Dr. Jill Clark, who has great experience working with traumatized children, led the training and she trained caseworkers how to recognize what kind of help the child might need.

After the training some caseworkers shared how they apply what they learned and how grateful where families, because they realized that there is nothing wrong with their adoptive child, but this only child needs little bit extra time or effort to improve behavior or studying.
